Pakua Yoga for Pain Management

Pakua Yoga for Pain Management

If you or someone you know struggles with pain, practicing yoga offers a natural and enjoyable way to manage that pain. Whether your discomfort is all-encompassing or localized, permanent or temporary, yoga does an excellent job of relaxing and strengthening your body, which minimizes the body’s perception of pain.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), chronic pain has been shown in studies to cause anatomy changes and impairments in the brain, but yoga can prevent or even reverse these effects in the brain. They found that practicing yoga has the opposite effect on the brain than chronic pain. Doing yoga creates more gray matter in the brain inside the cerebral cortex, which causes more tolerance for pain.

Not all yoga practices are created equal, however. For the best results when it comes to pain management, choose your yoga instructor and studio carefully. At Pakua, we practice Sintonia (Chinese) Yoga, known for its ability to put you in harmony with nature and balance your mind and body. The gentle movements of our yoga refrain from stressing the body; rather they soothe and relax and induce a state of tranquility.

At Pakua, our Sintonia yoga sessions, which include meditation, provide you with the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate. The atmosphere is noncompetitive and self-directed, so you receive the best session for your specific situation. During a yoga session lead by a trained yoga master, the only person you’ll be guided to best is yourself.

During a yoga class, you are free to work within any limitations. A variety of individuals with physical limitations come to our classes, including those who have experienced stroke, neurological issues, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and various autoimmune disorders, such as lupus.

To experience the transformational, healing effects of yoga for yourself or a loved one, contact Pakua about attending a complimentary class. Visit, or call 714-288-2853.
